Henderson Municipal Power & Light (HMP&L), an electric utility in Henderson, Kentucky, is seeking a Communications Technician to perform technical work involving the installation and maintenance of computer-based telecommunications, fiber optics, wireless and wireline systems, and related equipment for the HMP&L Fiber Department. Qualifications include: high school diploma or GED; supplemented by eighteen months education and training beyond high school in electronic communications or closely related field; two to five years work experience in electronics and telecommunications installation and maintenance including LAN/WAN networks, wireless equipment, phone equipment (VoIP and POTS), and optical networks or equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities for this job. Requirements include: residency in Henderson County or relocation to Henderson County within an agreed upon time period; a valid driver’s license; and must pass a drug screen and physical exam upon conditional offer of employment. Qualifications include: bachelor’s degree in electric power production, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, business administration or related field, with a minimum of ten years previous experience and training including accountability for environmental and governmental compliance involving power supply operations, engineering principles, and utility practices; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position.
