Electric Bill Payment

Your HMP&L electric service is billed with your other utilities by the City of Henderson.  The City of Henderson works with VPS, a third party automated payment service, to offer payment options for customers interested in paying their bill online using the Internet or by using an automated phone service. VPS accepts Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and electronic checks. VPS will charge a convenience fee for each transaction.

Low-Income Relief Fund

On June 25, 2018, the City of Henderson, Kentucky Utility Commission established a $1 million Low-Income Relief fund.  This fund was established to assist residential utility customers with paying electric bills if they meet certain criteria.  The funds are held by a local financial institution to earn interest, and the interest is transferred to the fund manager annually.  The fund manager uses established criteria to pay a portion of customer’s bills who have a proven need for assistance.

Electric Restoration Process

Our damage assessment and restoration process begins once the storm has passed and it’s safe for our personnel to proceed with gathering information and determining the extent of the damage in the affected areas. Your telephone call reporting an outage is vital because it will be combined with other customers’ calls and computer programs will analyze that information to make a prediction as to what lines or other equipment may be out of service.

Tree Trimming

HMP&L's primary goal is to provide safe, reliable service.  This information is intended to provide a generalized overview of how our utility may use tree maintenance techniques to achieve that goal.

Underground Distribution and Service Specs

Historically, the majority of the HMP&L electrical system has consisted of overhead distribution equipment and conductors, and overhead low voltage service delivery equipment and conductors. However, the industry has been gradually changing to underground services as the preferred service installation for most types of customers, and especially power consuming commercial and industrial customers.
