On June 25, 2018, the City of Henderson, Kentucky Utility Commission established a $1 million Low-Income Relief fund. This fund was established to assist residential utility customers with paying electric bills if they meet certain criteria. The funds are held by a local financial institution to earn interest, and the interest is transferred to the fund manager annually. Electric Outages
What do you think was the primary case of outages for HMP&L in 2020?
Our damage assessment and restoration process begins once the storm has passed and it’s safe for our personnel to proceed with gathering information and determining the extent of the damage in the affected areas. Your telephone call reporting an outage is vital because it will be combined with other customers’ calls and computer programs will analyze that information to make a prediction as to what lines or other equipment may be out of service.
HMP&L's primary goal is to provide safe, reliable service. This information is intended to provide a generalized overview of how our utility may use tree maintenance techniques to achieve that goal.
Historically, the majority of the HMP&L electrical system has consisted of overhead distribution equipment and conductors, and overhead low voltage service delivery equipment and conductors. However, the industry has been gradually changing to underground services as the preferred service installation for most types of customers, and especially power consuming commercial and industrial customers.
