As a public power utility, caring for our neighbors and community is just part of who we are. Our company and employee-driven Sparking Change Initiative brings employee groups together and supports volunteer work and energy efficiency programs in our community.

United Way Campaign

The HMP&L team has a long history of supporting the United Way.  This year 100% of our employee participated and contributed over $21,000.  Over the last 19 years, HMP&L employees have contributed over $172,000 to help our community through the United Way.

Henderson County Community Outreach Food Drive

This year HMP&L's 51 member team gathered over 300 lbs. of food items to support the Henderson County Community Outreach Center.  Henderson County Community Outreach works to be a sustainable ministry to serve the food insecurities of citizens of our City and County and to help their clients find a path of self-sustenance by connecting individuals and families to other community resources.

911 Gives Hope Toy Drive

HMP&L employees organized a toy drive this year in support of 911 Gives Hope in partnership with Henderson's emergency services agencies.  In addition to donating toys, HMP&L employees participated in a chili cookoff to raise over $250 for the purchase of additional toys.

HVAC System Rebate Program

This offer provides a variety of rebates for the installation of a qualified energy-efficient HVAC System in your home. The incentives are limited to residential homes with natural gas and/or electric service located in Henderson Municipal Power & Light’s service territory. A self-administered Energy Audit must be completed and turned in to determine eligibility. Incentive funds are limited and are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. New construction homes are not eligible to participate in the incentive program.

Residential Attic Insulation Program

This offer provides attic insulation incentives for residential customers that experience usage at or above 200% of 
“typical use” which will be defined as 1 kWh/sq. ft per month. The incentives are limited to residential homes with 
natural gas and/or electric service located in Henderson Municipal Power & Light’s service territory.

Critical Needs Program

A person with special medical needs may depend on electricity for life-sustaining equipment. Henderson Municipal Power & Light (HMP&L) addresses the needs of these customers by establishment of a Critical Needs Program.  The Program is for residential customers whose electric service is medically essential, as certified by a physician (i.e.  the customer is dependent on electric-powered equipment that must be operated continuously or as required by a physician to avoid loss of life or serious medical complications requiring immediate hospitalization).
