Residential Attic Insulation Program

Incentive Offer 
This offer provides attic insulation incentives for residential customers that experience usage at or above 200% of 
“typical use” which will be defined as 1 kWh/sq. ft per month. The incentives are limited to residential homes with 
natural gas and/or electric service located in Henderson Municipal Power & Light’s service territory. A Self-administered Energy Audit must be completed and turned in to determine eligibility. The incentive cannot exceed the cost of materials less any sales tax. Incentive funds are limited and are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. New construction homes are not eligible to participate in the incentive program.
Compliance 
All projects must comply with applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations, including building codes, and 
manufacturer’s specifications.

Application Delivery 
A complete, signed application and itemized receipt for materials and labor must be submitted to 
[email protected]. The invoice(s) must indicate the date of project completion and total project costs. 
Incomplete applications will not be processed. Failure to provide supporting documentation will be considered an 
incomplete application.
 
Verification 
Henderson Municipal Power & Light reserves the right to verify sales receipts and/or installations. An inspection may 
be conducted to verify installations. Any and all funds determined, in Henderson Municipal Power & Light’s sole 
discretion, to have been acquired on the basis of fraudulent or misrepresented information must be returned to 
Henderson Municipal Power & Light.  

How to Apply for an Incentive
• Complete self-administered energy audit and submit to HMP&L.
• Receive determination of eligibility.
• Installation of attic insulation. Installed insulation must be R-38 or above.
• Complete and sign application.
• The application must be postmarked within 90 days of product installation to be eligible for incentive.
• Attach Receipt. Ensure you have attached a copy of the contractor itemized invoice to the rebate
application.
                   The invoice should include:
                       • Address of installation
                       • Date of installation
                       • Square foot installed
                       • Type of Insulation
                       • Total installed cost of each qualifying service
• Submit Application to: [email protected] or

Eligibility 
• This program is available only to existing HMP&L electric utility customers.
• New construction homes are not eligible to participate in this program.
• Program is not available for reimbursement to contractors/realtors for HMP&L service area properties.
• Project approval is limited based on availability of the fiscal year budgeted funds,
• One project per applicant per fiscal year (June 1st to May 31st).

Reimbursement
• Reimbursement will be available for the cost of insulation.
• The reimbursement amount will be based on the final itemized receipt provided by the applicant following project
completion minus any and all applicable sales tax or shipping fees.
• Cost for labor will not be eligible for reimbursement.
• If final receipt is not provided within 6 months of project approval date, the incentive funds may be reallocated and
unavailable for this project.
• HMP&L may be required by law to report an incentive amount to the Internal Revenue Service.
• HMP&L is not responsible for any tax liability as a result of any incentive paid.

• HMP&L disclaims any warranty, whether expressed or implied, for any materials or labor associated with installation,
maintenance, repair.
• HMP&L will not accept any liability resulting from participation in this program.
• HMP&L does not guarantee that energy efficiency measures purchased and installed or services provided through this program will result in energy and cost savings.
